Cebu expecting a boom in BPO and IT jobs

According to news sources in Cebu, the region is expecting a boom in BPO and IT jobs as the American recession for two reasons:  the US recovery which will see an influx of investments into countries and cities that they regard as ones with high potential, such as the Philippines and Cebu; the establishment of business parks in Cebu has is a reinforcement of the region’s strong positioning as a BPO destination.

Among the US industries that are seeking outsourcing are the ones that specialize in software development, medical transcription, and health care documentation. 

Cebu has already been cited as the #1 emerging global outsourcing or business process outsourcing (BPO) city in the world by international consulting and strategic advisory firm Tholons. 

It is predicted to attract even more investors because of its significant, English-speaking, IT-savvy talent pool as well as an infrastructure that is being built to service global clients.  As a result, BPO and IT jobs are among the most plentiful in the region and the ones that need filling the most by qualified candidates.

Cebu’s two business parks are also a sign that the region is taking its global positioning seriously and offering premiere services to potential investors.  The first business park is the 24-hectare Asiatown IT Park developed by Cebu Holdings unit Cebu Property Ventures and Development Corp. (CPVDC). The second is the 50-hectare Cebu Business Park which has been declared an IT zone by the Philippine Economic Zone Authority.

The growth of the IT-BPO business community in Cebu should bring in welcome BPO jobs to Cebuanos.
