BEING GLOBAL SMART
By Teri Burgos-Gutierrez
“ The value of a man can be determined by what he gives,
and not by what he is able to receive.”
- Albert Einstein
We all live in the most challenging time of all history. We live in the computer age where vast mathematical problems can be solved by asking the right questions, in a matter of seconds. Computers are products of the human brain and provide answers to tremendous advances in Information Technology, but most important of all is the human brain. We are certainly living in a productive age – an age when nothing is impossible. Its results are being achieved through the magic of work, but far more wonderful are the things we may anticipate as realities during the next several years. Not the least of these conceptions is a world that will certainly need to be filled with global smarts!
Regardless of the vocation, career, or job you select in the Global Village you are in, you will have to work in the constant process of becoming what you want to be. The only way to avoid work is to make it joy all the way. Do you work because that is what you want to do and you want to do it tremendously well? Being globally smart propels and vitalizes power in you that will carry you on to whatever heights of achievement you wish to reach. It awakens your imagination; it stimulates your natural and acquired abilities; it gives you confidence in yourself, and it lights up your entire personality.
Why be a global smart? Its astonishing qualities form the basis for the best possible communication tool in this highly technical world we live in. What does being a global smart do for you? Here are a few thoughts:
- it liberates – if you’re inhibited by stage fright, or afraid for any reason, if your ideas are confused, it will help you get rid of your inhibitions, and help your ideas flow.
- it provides energy – it liberates the energy otherwise used for blocking and inhibiting, and allows access to energy reserves that eliminate fatigue and supply incredible strength.
- it is contagious – it is a mobilizing force. It spreads like forest fire, from person to person.
- it is a skill and not a gift – this is a quality that can be developed.
Here are some simple tips how to do it:
- establish a goal – it is never too late to aspire for something.
- improve yourself – gather information on the subject, think about what you absorb, and ask yourself questions. In the Global Village we now live in, your ability to communicate can make people around you comprehend what you yourself have been able to comprehend.
- create an obsession – be positive with your goal.
- get your ideas down on paper – writing is an excellent way of crystallizing your thoughts. One idea leads to another and the challenge of a blank page stimulates the mind.
- adopt a happy attitude – circulate, smile, let your joy shine through your eyes, speak loudly and clearly, and open your communication lines with people.
- talk about it whenever you can – it will power up your self-confidence to become a winner that you want to be.
In this highly technical global world, smart people can still make their dreams a reality!
