ASIG EMPLOYMENT SERVICE OFFICE
OFFICE OF THE MAYOR, PASIG CITY

The Pasig Employment Service Office (PESO) is in charge of finding and sourcing out available vacancies for all jobseekers in Pasig City, courtesy of His Honor Pasig City Mayor Vicente Eusebio.

PESO is the priority program of the Pasig City Mayoral Office that goes beyond the previous practice of simply giving job recommendations for people looking for work. Prior to PESO, the municipality held only one job fair a year. Things are different now.

Ms. Lourdes T. Austria, Executive Assistant V from the Office of the Mayor, elaborates, “PESO is part of the Mayor’s objective to professionalize the office. We have four job fairs a year now with about 50-70 companies and 2,000-3,000 applicants a day attending. We also bring down the Office of the Mayor to the people every week via medical missions or what we call Serbisyong Totoo. The same holds true with Lingap, wherein every Saturday the services of the city are brought down by the Office of the Mayor to one barangay and held within a barangay hall.”

In its latest job fair last June 30, in partnership with JobsDB Phils, Inc., PESO raised the standards even higher by teaching job applicants how to search for jobs and send applications online.

PESO is a priority of the Mayor’s Office,” says Ms. Austria. “He believes in the betterment of people’s lives. He is a worker himself, he wasn’t born rich, and he realized that one’s success in life is due to sipag [industry] and tsaga [persistence]. He believes in pushing yourself to attain success. That’s why he wants to give people all these opportunities.”
