Though I was a Sales and Marketing Manager in my former company which was an Internet Service Provider, I wanted to try out the call center industry. I’ve been wanting to enter it for some time, just waiting for the right opportunity.

JobsDB has been sending me through its Job Alerts a listing of job openings and their companies. I’ve been using this service for two years, occasionally exercising my prerogative to look into each one of them, checking each company's Mission/Vision.

When I finally decided to apply, I was still employed but Ambergris' screening process was swift. It took only two interviews, the first from the Recruiting Manager, the final from the Operations Manager of the account that I would be eventually assigned to.

My position now at Ambergris gives me the flexibility to exercise my creativity and leadership. Everyday is a new day and it doesn't bore me. The initial challenge was working at night but I got the hang of it. Compensation is above industry standard. Over and above compensation are the company's culture and core values which I lovingly embrace.

There were some initial steps I had to take. Letting go of my six years with my former company. Letting go of the fear of the "what if's". I decided to just do it and give it my best.

From day one, I told myself that there is no turning back, that this is the challenge that I have now. My experiences from my previous employment really helped me in immediately understanding the program and how it works. There were initial challenges but these were conquered with the help of my new allies that I have developed in Ambergris. The atmosphere is supportive but at the same time competitive. The people are hard working but at the same time know when to have fun.

Looking back now, it was my sheer determination and courage that carried me through it all---and it still does, until now.
