POSITIVE WORDS, POWERFUL RESULT

“Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless.
- Mother Teresa

Words are important elements of communication at work. They enable us to receive knowledge from sources outside ourselves, to think about what we know, and to communicate to others our beliefs, opinions and experience. What we receive, how we think, and the accuracy with which we communicate our thoughts and feelings to our co-workers are partially determined by the meanings of the words which are used.

Thus, the bottom line is to be careful with our choice of words. What we say can no longer be taken back. Let me cite how positive words can produce powerful results at work.  At the end of the day have, these words truly have power to do the following for people we work with:

  1. Cheer them up when the world is getting them down
  2. Honor them for their achievements
  3. Cause them to giggle and laugh
  4. Restore their faith in the goodness of humanity
  5. Bolster their self-image
  6. Inspire them to give their best
  7. Let them know that somebody cares
  8. Lift their spirits
  9. Warm their hearts
  10. Improve their moods
  11. Heal their wounds
  12. Acknowledge their hard work
  13. Bring out the best in them
  14. Boost their confidence
  15. Support them in tough times
  16. Comfort them in times of sorrow
  17. Tell them they are appreciated
  18. Supply them with a burst of energy
  19. Brighten their days
  20. Enrich their lives

Don’t you think that it’s about time that we maximize the use of these powerful words not only with the people at work but in every aspect of our lives. Let me share with you a simple poem on the power of words that inspired me to write this article. Here goes:

The Power of Words
A careless word may kindle strife,
A cruel word may wreck a life.
A bitter word may hate instill,
A brutal word may smile and kill.
A gracious word may smooth the way,
A joyous word may light the day.
A timely word may lessen stress,
A loving word may heal and bless.
