Fit for Life

PHYSICAL BALANCE

Did you know that in the Beginning, we were designed to be Healthy?

If that is so, what in the world is happening to our bodies? In the United States, 60 percent of American adults are overweight. One quarter of the entire U.S. population is officially obese. This means that men carry more than 25 percent body fat and for women, it’s 30 percent.

Please understand that I’m aware of the fact that ’Why People Eat More Than They Should Eat’ is a very complex psychological issue. I’m not going to bring out all of the complexities of that in this article. But, you must understand, adult obesity has doubled—doubled in the last twenty years and adolescent obesity has tripled. It’s one of the most pressing medical concerns America is facing. And, here in the Philippines, we are starting to catch up. Today we’re going to look at how to feel better physically.

Develop a Healthy Attitude Toward Your Body.
If you think healthy thoughts, you’re going to move toward being a healthy person.
Here are three unhealthy thoughts you ought to eliminate from your mindset.
What do you think about when you think about your body? You can reject your body. You can perfect your body. You can neglect you body.

  • One. You can reject your body. Some of you are doing this – Send it back! It’s a mistake! God, you goofed! You look in the mirror and think, “No thanks!” You reject it. There are people who have made millions making fun of their own bodies.
  • Two. You can perfect your body. This is the opposite extreme. These are the extreme body-builders and the models. They’re constantly striving to be a ”10.” They’re always working for total perfection. They worship and idolize their bodies.
  • Three. You neglect your body. Most of us do number three. You ignore your health. You’re careless about your condition and you drag through life tired most of the time. As a result, you have the wrong attitude.

What is the right attitude toward your body? Don’t reject it. Don’t perfect it. Don’t neglect it. The healthy attitude is TO RESPECT IT AND PROTECT IT.

In order to protect your body you have to do the second thing…

Motivate Yourself to Change.

“I don’t have the time.”
“It’s no fun.”
“I’m too tired.”
“I don’t like to sweat.”
“I look ugly in shorts.”
“I don’t like the discomfort.”
“The weather’s bad.”
“It’s too much like work.”
“It’s boring.”

You’ve heard them and used them. They are excuses --- for people who don’t want to exercise. Even the best intentions to travel the path of wellness won’t get us very far without the law of Physical Activity. Think of it as Wellness 101. Jack La Lanne said, “Exercise is King, Nutrition is Queen.”

Indeed, there’s little room to debate the powerful Law of Physical Activity. The critical importance of exercise has been recognized for centuries. Modern studies confirming its positive influence are legion. The message is repeated in newspapers and magazines and on television. And, the message is clear: We need to Exercise!

Exercise TODAY!
