“There is no guarantee of success to those who only get and receive. But there is always an assurance to those who become. Because ultimately, we are measured not by what we have. We are measured by what we have become.”--Lloyd Luna

“Is there a job waiting for you?”

Dreaming doesn’t stop in just envisioning how to become Someone or Something. It is a continuous process of weaving reveries and doing something to make it a reality. Reality starts when one can grasp what is actual and existing.

The book “Is There a Job Waiting for You?” by Lloyd Luna features nine straightforward yet effective principles which the author coined as “weapons” that challenges the readers to come up with ways to “engineer” one’s own destiny and how to gear one’s fate toward success. These weapons are proven philosophies by Luna himself, which helped him achieve whatever he has right now, which is a combination of motivational speaker, communicator, and career advisor. Each chapter chronicles one weapon that emphasizes the power of the featured principle by drawing on Luna’s experiences.

Luna emphasizes the power of decision-making in maneuvering one’s success pattern. Correct decisions make possible one’s emergence into “winners” from the individual to the community and perhaps the country. He also stresses the value of proper attitude as a basis for personal and career advancement. He encourages individuals to add substance to themselves by adding value to other people. He persuades the youth to work out of the box, to work outside the pages of the book. Through this, they will be able to start weaving their dreams and make things work for their benefit through his concept of the art of “imagineering.”

Luna teaches the young to act like professionals so that people will consider them as professionals. Disassociation and Association are key factors to realize the value of “becoming” and professionalism. By becoming a person of value and substance, one will be able to choose the correct set of friends who are winners in their own fields. Being with the winners ensures the development of an individual’s communication skills. Luna stresses the essence of mastering the art of negotiation and the discipline of communication, which will require time and effort before they are mastered.

As his last weapon, Luna advises the youth to give back all the good things to God, who is the Employer of all employers. He attributes all his successes to the Supreme Being while continuing his journey in his field. According to Luna, when one submits himself to “Someone-up-there,” he will be able to possess all the necessary tools to build his own success.

“Is There a Job Waiting for You?” is a book of inspiration as it reaches out to people through proven principles on how they can trigger improvements within and without.

It is a bold attempt to bring out the best in every member of the next generation through the author’s personal experiences. Luna breaks ground in discussing the reality that lies outside the confined walls of the classroom. He challenges the minds of the readers to take note of effective strategies on how to make destiny work towards them.

What’s good about the book is its simple yet effective way of narrating the necessary information without sounding technical and incomprehensible. Perhaps more convincingly than any argument, Luna by his life showed the readers that he is the living proof of success that encourages the new generation to strive harder and be able to be at par with professionals. “Is There a Job Waiting for You?” is a mini-bible of success chronicling the perseverance needed to scale the heights.
