TELL US WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT JOBSDB.

JobsDB is popularly known for its local recruitment service. But aside from its strong suit of giving career opportunities and promoting companies, job seekers can benefit from its given services such as updated events, inspiring stories, and useful training programs. Employers, on the other hand, can find it a  means for a stress-free and extremely easy recruitment strategy.

WHAT DO YOU DO FOR FUN?

Fun for me is when doing something extraordinary or thrilling. Taking a road trip going “nowhere”(which can be just driving and watching the busy streets at night) or doing fire gun shooting with my dad is extremely cool for me.

WHAT'S YOUR CHILL-OUT ACTIVITY AFTER OFFICE?

Nothing in particular, I do watch movies or DVDs at home. Sometimes, I’m online chatting with my college friends or reading fashion magazines.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOURSELF?

As a friend, I am fiery and warm. As a lover, I am passionate and self-expressive. In my career, I frequently have a sense of urgency in everything that I do. I easily get impatient sometimes and think that everything should be done with great exigency. But of course I know how to control and moderate my impulses whether they’re good or bad.

WHAT MAKES YOU DIFFERENT FROM OTHER HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICERS?

I believe in what I am doing and the responsibilities I am holding.

WHAT IS THE SECRET OF BEING A SUCCESSFUL HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICER?

Human resources service is somehow similar to social work because it thrives on exceptional customer service. Also, it connotes a big responsibility; this means you should know the lingo of strategic human resources, must always contribute innovative ideas, and possess exceptional leadership qualities.

Engineering
GIL L. VILLASOTES
27 years old
ENERGY ENGINEER, Energy Industries, LLC. – Honolulu, HI (Telecommute through Techmonde Corp.- Makati City)

Graduated with a degree in Agricultural Engineering from the University of the Philippines Los Baños

“I have been using JobsDB for quite a while now, even when I am not actively looking for a new job. JobsDB is one of my top online career resources, not only for job search, but for overall career development. I take advantage of its available information and resources about skills development, work-related laws, stories about successful people, and a lot more.”

WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE YOUR INDUSTRY?

I always look out for the most basic needs of modern humans – food, energy, and comfortable environment. Though number one in my list, I didn’t get the chance to make much achievement of the food industry, so I turned to energy. My current position allows me to contribute, in one way or another, to energy-saving projects.

WHAT DO YOU DO FOR FUN?

I watch tons of movies and spend hours playing computer games. I hang out with friends on weekends. We usually just stay at home though, we seldom go out.

WHAT'S YOUR CHILL-OUT ACTIVITY AFTER OFFICE?

Sometimes I stroll through malls and go window-shopping for gadgets, games, and DVDs.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOURSELF?

I tend to be cautious in almost all kinds of undertakings, always thinking of costs and benefits. Decision-making is almost always a long and tedious process that I sometimes have to keep myself in check so as not to take more time than is warranted.

I am productive when working alone but I enjoy working in a team. I consider it a weakness when I tend to become impatient with team members who can not carry their own weight. Whiners are a big NO for me. When we talk about problems, then it follows that we should also talk about solutions. Being just another employee in the workplace, I try to keep a balance between professionalism and having fun.

WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE SECRET OF BEING A SUCCESSFUL ENERGY ENGINEER?

By typical definition of successful people, I believe it is way too early for me to consider myself as one. But if there is anything I can share with, it would be to treat your superiors and colleagues with respect and learn from them as much as you can. I realized that there is so much to learn from people as compared to books. Authors learn first before they write their first books. Books are great learning tools too, but if you can learn from them before they are written, then you are definitely on your way ahead of the race.

Darwin Bicao Rivers
29 years old
Assistant Recruitment Manager – Manila (SiTEL Customer Care Philippines Inc.)

Degree Holder; Behavioral Science major in Sociology at the Polytechnic University of the Philippine

“I have been using JobsDB ever since as part of my sourcing strategies. Being part of the Recruitment Team it is always important that I have different dependable sources of qualified applicants for my company’s manpower needs and I am happy to say that JobsDB is one of the very few on-line sources that we utilize and would historically have high yield of results.”

WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE THIS INDUSTRY?

I have been working in the Call Center/BPO Industry for more than eight years now and have fortunately worked with several of the largest MNC (multinational corporations) in the country. Having experience  working in both Operations and HR with different companies in this industry made me a well-rounded and highly-skilled individual.

The Call Center/BPO Industry has helped me  in both my professional and personal lives by developing my full potentials.

WHAT DO YOU DO FOR FUN?

I make sure that I take time-off every month out of my very busy schedule and spend it with my family and love ones. We would normally go out of town and rediscover the different wonderful and exciting places in our countryside. We also make sure to have an out-of-the-country trip at least once a year to be acquainted with the different culture of other countries and to know and explore their unique traditions and famous landmarks.

WHAT'S YOUR CHILL OUT ACTIVITY AFTER OFFICE?

I normally spend after-office hours with my team in our night outs or  the rest of the day reading a good book, watching DVDs or listening to my collection of hits in my iPod. I also regularly take time out to meditate which helps me to focus and maintain balance in my life.

DESCRIBE YOURSELF:

I’m a very simple person who  had the opportunity to face the different trials and hardships in life and was fortunate enough to triumph over them. I believe in working hard and working smart. I  was mentored and thought very highly of  by very effective mentors in both my personal and career lives. I encourage team spirit and unity for I always believe that as a team, together everyone achieves miracles!

As a manager and a leader, I practice macro management to give my team space for both personal learning and growth. As a person, I value character and personal integrity and I believe that we really can make a better world by starting with ourselves.

WHY DO YOU THINK YOU SUCCEEDED?

Being part of a large organization like SiTEL, which is arguably one of the largest global outsourcing companies with 165 sites and more than 67,000 employees worldwide, is for me an achievement by itself.

Success as the ultimate goal is an important part of life. I believe that my current personal success in the field of HR in the Call Center/BPO Industry is due to the different philosophies that I practice. In SiTEL, we always bear in mind the three important cornerstones of success – VISION, PASSION and PURPOSE.

I believe that having the VISION, PASSION and PURPOSE are the main ingredients in being successful in any type of work/industry. You must ask yourself some basic yet very important questions like - Do you believe in what you do?  Can you feel it?  Do you have what it takes?  How strong is your commitment?

You should have the VISION – what do you really want to be and what do you want to achieve in life? What are your short and long-term goals for both your personal and career lives? Having a clear VISION of what you want to become and what you want to achieve in life is important in having a clear and defined “road map” on what your future would be.

You should have PASSION – How strong is your desire to achieve your goals and make your plans into a reality? What is your commitment level in ensuring your own success? What drives you to make something that seems impossible possible? How willing are you to go “above” and “beyond” your limits? Having the PASSION in your life and at work is important in making sure that you have the tenacity and the “drive” to reach and achieve your goals.

You should have the PURPOSE -  A life even with both vision and passion BUT without  purpose will not lead you to success. Having a strong sense of purpose is crucial in making sure that  whatever you dream to achieve and whatever drives you to succeed would become a reality. Purpose is the reason that we all have to live a fulfilling life.

Lastly, after having the VISION, PASSION and PURPOSE it is also important that you also must have FAITH. Having faith fully not only in yourself and in all of your capabilities but  in the Divine Providence that makes everything possible. These are my secrets to success.
